Pizzeria

After arriving in Australia in the 1970’s from Greece Yanni (John) and Maria decided to open the first of what would be four Pizza bars in Melbourne; the world was their oyster.  A few years later they started a family and John decided that moving to Coober Pedy would be a good idea trying his luck with Opal Mining after his brother had earlier made the move.

Maria had other ideas and being the little entrepreneur that she was, decided that Coober Pedy needed a Pizzeria to cater for the vast number of coaches passing through to Alice Springs and “the Rock”. They opened a Pizza bar in the town centre. After it was a great success they sold it to build the Caravan Park. The reputation was so good the new owners didn’t want to change the name. But we kept the secret recipe!

From there the Caravan Park project was started, power cables were laid, rooms were built, Town Tours were put in place and finally the Pizzeria was set up. “The Original” recipe with its famous thin base, special sauce and quality toppings are still available every evening from 5pm located next to the reception with in the park.

People stay here just for the Pizza! It’s that good. Come and try for yourself.
